Volkswagen is confident that its electric car sales will surpass Tesla’s EV sales

About two years ago, Herbert Dice, chairman of the Volkswagen Group, said that Volkswagen was able to overtake Tesla in the electric vehicle (EV) competition. Most recently, he reiterated that VW will surpass Tesla and become the world’s largest EV brand by 2025.

Dice says CNBC That Tesla is now “leading the EV segment” because it has the potential to be the most digital car company right now. “We’re still targeting and will probably surpass sales by 2025,” he added.

Dice said that Tesla is able to get good results and high returns with its business model, yet he believes that Volkswagen will soon be able to close the sales gap. Now its main focus is to reduce supply chain problems to increase car production next month.

“I think for Tesla too, upgrading now is probably going to be even more challenging. They opened a new factory and we tried to keep going. We think in the second half of this year, we will build momentum, “said Dice.

Although the automotive industry is now plagued by severe supply shortages, Dice says there are some positive signs that it will get better. Semiconductor deficits, for example, are expected to begin to recover by the middle of the year, although other industry figures suggest the problem will continue until 2023.
