UMW Toyota Motor sold 6,946 units of cars in April 2022 – 18% less

UMW Toyota has announced its sales performance for April 2022 with deliveries of 6,946 units of vehicles – including 6,868 Toyota vehicles, with the remaining 78 units being Lexus vehicles.

The overall figure represents an 18% decline from the sales of 8,487 units successfully acquired in March, with Toyota selling 8,386 and Lexus 101.

As reported by NST, UMW Holdings – the parent company of UMWT – blamed supply shortages affecting vehicle production; The same problem is faced by other manufacturers. The group sold a total of 32,600 units of cars in April, involving both UMWT and its affiliate Perodua. This is 7.5% less than the 35,246 units acquired in March.

The best-selling flagship models include the Vios, Yaris, Corolla Cross and Hilux, which were recorded last month. Despite the decline, UMWT’s current sales for the year as of April (YTD) were 29,393 units, up 11% from 26,431 units recorded for the same period last year.
