You don’t see hot dog fillers across the highway every day, but recently it happened in Pennsylvania.
A local news report from Rostraver, Penn. Interstate 70 explained the situation. Apparently, a half-truck carrying about 15,000 pounds of hot dog filler crashed and overturned, causing its contents to spread all over the highway. A photo of the incident came courtesy of the Rostraver Central Fire Department and is worth a look.
You may already be familiar with what a hot dog filler looks like, but its ,000 15,000 is a completely different thing spread across a highway and roadside vegetation. The pink slims seem to have been transported in huge green plastic bags, and with heavy impact they burst.
Local news reports said police determined the truck driver was speeding and lost control, leading to a major accident. From the shattered appearance of the truck, it is fairly easy to say that the accident happened at high speed. The driver himself was booked for “numerous” quotes, and both he and a passenger suffered minor injuries – they were both treated at the scene.
As for the hot dog filler, we suspect it is no longer edible. And that’s probably for the best. We apologize if we missed your lunch.
