The Pan Borneo Highway is expected to be completed by 2028

He said Has been named The four packages, namely Telok Melano-Sematan, Niabau, Serian-Balai Ringin and Julau, have already been completed.

“The rest of the package, hopefully, will be completed by the end of this year. It’s just that we assume that one or two packages may be delayed because of the challenges, especially the shortage of building materials and their rising costs, “he said.

Manpower is another problem – “Sarawak only accepts foreign workers from neighboring countries,” he added, but stressed that the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) and the Works Ministry are working hard to complete the first phase by the end of 2022.

The first phase of the Pan-Borneo-Sarawak Highway project (worth RM16.117 billion) involves 11 work packages, including the 786-kilometer route from Telok Melano, with the second phase from Limbang to Lawas expected to be ready by 2028.
