The driver was arrested for obstructing police with a VIP convoy in KL

The driver of a vehicle has been arrested for obstructing a convoy of dignitaries (VIPs) in an incident that took place at 11.30 pm on May 6. The driver was seen driving in a hurry as well as a government employee, VIP escort was seen stopping the police.

According to Dang Wangi District Police Chief, ACP Nur Delihan Yahya, a preliminary investigation found that the incident took place when prominent people were being taken to the entrance of Jalan Sultan Abdul Halim on the Sultan Iskander Highway.

“On May 7, 2022, at 1 p.m., a 36-year-old man was arrested by the Dang Wangi District Criminal Investigation Department on suspicion of involvement in the case. The man was remanded in custody for four days and will be charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code (barring a government employee from performing his duties) in the Jalan Duta Magistrate’s Court on May 10 (today), “he said in a statement.

According to him, in addition to that, the driver will also be charged under Section 269 of the Penal Code (driving or driving in a hurry on government roads).

He also warned the people not to get involved in any crime that violates the law.
