Ray Evernham’s collection of vintage race cars is going to auction

NASCAR Hall of Fame member Ray Evernham sells more than 30 cars from his personal collection. Scheduled to cross the block in May 2022, the fleet has a varied mix of vintage race cars and a handful of street-legal classics that are offered without reservation.

The day of Evernham’s collection is not over. Mekam Nilam explains that he started collecting and retrieving cars almost two decades ago, but he is thinning his fleet because he has no space. If you have a free spot (or four) in your garage, this is a rare opportunity to add some really cool cars to your collection. One of the highlights is a 1965 Browner Hawk Ford Dean Van Lines Special that was run by Mario Andretti at the 1965 and 1966 Back-to-Back Indie Car Championships. It is based on the 1964 Braham chassis and is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine. .

If you want something old, there is a heavy-modified 1923 Ford Model T known as the Queen of Speed. Erin Crocker, Evernham’s wife, drove it to the 2015 Race of Gentlemen, but its racing tradition is far behind. Several former NASCAR racers are also ready to take over, including the 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the 1974 Mercury Montego, the 1974 Dodge Charger and the 2001 Dodge Intrapid. All of these vehicles seem to be well documented; Jack Ingram notably won first place in the 1975 edition of the Daytona 300 in Monte Carlo.

The cars that Everhanham is parting with have not spent their lives on the track. He also sells a 1940 Ford Standard Coupe, a 1952 Dodge Power Wagon, and a stick-shifted 1979 Jeep J10 that looks great towing with the 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona NASCAR. There is only one car for European car fans to bid on: a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Guards Red and finished with about 12,000 miles.

Evernham’s collection will cross the auction block of Mecum’s Indy 2022 sale, which is set to take place in Indianapolis between May 13 and 21. And, all these cars are given without any reserve, which means that each lot will be taken home by maximum 7 The bidder
