In fact, the model was shown at launch in December last year. Bumiputera Development Action (TPB) 2030, and is rumored to be launched in Malaysia this year.

However, all units are from the left-hand drive (LHD) version produced for the Chinese domestic market. But what we’re seeing in this gallery is a real Ora Good Cat unit in the right-hand drive (RHD) version.

The car is currently the distributor of GWM brand and is headquartered in Haval, Go Auto, Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Malaysia, its SUV sub-brand. This is a unit similar to Ora Good Cat RHD that was charged yesterday using a DC charger at Vision Motorsport.

The RHD version of Ora Good Cat actually sold in Thailand, launching in that country in November last year. According to Datuk SM Ajli Nasimuddin, executive director of Go Auto, Ora Good Cat is expected to launch in the Malaysian market next month.

According to him, all the three variants of Good Cat called Tech, Pro, Ultra sold in Thailand will be offered in Malaysia and the units on display are of Ultra variant. He added that the prices of all the models have not been finalized, but they want the sale price in Malaysia to be close to the price in Thailand.

Last March, the prices of all Ora Good Cat variants in Thailand were updated according to the new EV incentive rate introduced by the country’s government. The base tech model is now priced at 828,500 baht (RM105,350), lower than the previous original price of 989,000 baht (RM125,700).

The Mid-Range Pro variant is now priced at 898,500 baht (RM114,250), 15.1% lower than the sales price of 1.059 million baht (RM134,600) before the incentive. Although the highest variant of the Ultra sold for 1.0385 million baht (RM132,000), the actual price is less than 1.199 million baht (RM152,400). If these figures are taken as a reference, then the Good Cat will probably be the most affordable electric car on the Malaysian market in the future.

For the Good Cat Tech and Pro variants, it gets a 47.8-kWh capacity lithium-metal phosphate battery, which allows it to travel up to 400 kilometers (NEDC cycle test). The battery powers only one electric motor placed on the front and drives the front wheels powered by 143 PS (141 hp or 105 kW) and 210 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 152 km / h.

For the Ultra variant, it is given a larger capacity battery of 63.1 kWh, which allows it to travel up to 500 km on a single full charge (also, NEDC test cycle). But this taller model still gets the same 143 PS / 210 Nm electric motor.

All of them support a 6.6 kW AC charger via the Good Cat variant Type 2 connection. It can also be charged with a DC fast charger up to 60 kW using CCS2 connector, for which 0-80% charge can be filled in just 45 minutes. About an hour for the Tech and Pro variants, and the Ultra variant.

According to Ajli, his company has carried out a test to charge the Ora Good Cat to a public DC charger and no problems have been reported so far. He added that every Good Cat unit sold in Malaysia will come with a home charger.
