Lucid is recalling 1,117 Air electric sedans to fix a bug that could disable the display screen.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report, damaged vehicles involved wiring harnesses that may not be properly secured. This can affect important functions like speedometer and gear selection.
In damaged vehicles, the left and center display wires may not have adequate clearance from the shaft between the steering wheel, which can cause harness failure and loss of display function, the report said.
2022 Lucid Air
“Lucid has set up a clean point at its manufacturing facility for vehicles with a production date of May 4, 2022. All Lucid vehicles built prior to the clean point have been potentially affected,” according to the report. Lucid reports that this is less than 1% of all vehicles built so far.
The company further said that an engineering change is already in place to get the shorter shoe, which should solve the problem. The problem has nothing to do with Lucid’s original propulsion component set, which is driven by efficiency and basically what the company sees as its strength.
Owners of damaged vehicles will be notified when their vehicle will be taken to the Lucid Service Center so that the shoe can be inspected and, if necessary, safely, for free. Lucid, which does not use traditional franchised dealerships, is in the process of building a service network and a boutique-like gallery sales system.
2022 Lucid Air
Lucid mentioned in his last update that it pushed 11 over-the-air updates in the first quarter of 2022. Increasingly, many software-based security bugs will be addressed quickly – such as a recall for a Ford Mustang Match – that will be effectively remedied before a conventional mail notice is issued.
Lucid has been raising prices on Air since June 1, but those who reserve earlier can lock in current / previous prices.
