See you back this weekend in reverse — right here Green Car ReportFor the week ending May 6, 2022.
This week we bring you some of the first drives, some technical news breaks and some updated impressions that might come in handy if you do some popular new EV cross-shopping. First, we drove the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid for the first time, and it seemed to be not only the best-driving of the new Sportage lineup but also better-driving than the hybrid rivals of Toyota, Honda and Ford. With a starting price of $ 28,545, the 43-mpg hybrid is also a great value.

Then, in the first drive of 2023, the Lexus RZ 450e— is the brand’s first mass-market EV for the United States. Worked better than Tesla.
Although we couldn’t get a complete picture of the RZ, we came up with the big picture news from our time with the Lexus engineering boss: both the Toyota and the Lexus are working on 800-volt charging and an 800-volt architecture. Can be seen on EV with pack.

Should you bother looking for 350-kw CCS charge connectors for super-fast charging of Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6? After several charge sessions, we have to say maybe not for these cars and not now. If Hyundai and Kia add a dedicated pre-conditioning mode, we can change our minds.
Ford Intelligent Backup Power – F-150 Lightning
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is the first EV on the market to be a manufacturer-supported home power backup system that allows utilities like Tesla Powerwall. And this past week it got a price tag: $ 3,895, which includes inverters, disconnected switches and battery packs. You’ll need an 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro (included with the Extended Range Pack), and be sure to add about $ 2,000 for installation.

The entire US Volvo lineup has been electrified for 2023 — and that means a mix of light hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. A new light-hybrid XC40 and a refreshed XC40 complete the recharge lineup, and it’s on track to make the brand all-EV by 2030.

The parent companies of Stellantis, Jeep, Chrysler, Ram, and many more brands announced Monday that they plan to overhaul the 2.8 billion production for its Canadian plants for EVs-worth $ 35 billion over five years, as part of an electrification plan announced last year. Electric ram pickups and electric Dodge muscle cars are part of the plan, even in Canada.
And while that has been accomplished through BMW and Mercedes-Benz car-sharing, Stellantis this past week stepped in to buy the remnants of those automakers’ ventures করতে to expand its Free2Move service, which offers Jeep Compass and Renegade models mostly in the United States.

Finally, a study by JD Power found that, surprisingly, some technology-conscious companies, including Revian and Lucid, lack key functionality such as remote charge management. EV owners are increasingly using automaker smartphone apps to handle this, so they are increasingly frustrated with the lack of such features.
