Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) has announced that KTM ETS and KTM Intercity tickets are now open for travel from 1 July to 31 December this year.
ETS will have 32 services, including 10 services on the KL Central-Butterworth route, 10 services on the KL-Central-Ipoh route, eight services on the KL Central-Padang Besar route, two services on the Gemas-Butterworth route and two services from Gemas to Padang Besar.
KTM Intercity operates 22 services, including two Express Timuran, six Express Celtan and 14 Shuttle Timuran. From July 1, the Express Rakyat Timuran service will again operate from Johor Bahru Central Station to Tumpat, and similarly the Express Cellatan from JB Central to James. This is because the route from Campus Baru to JB Central is closed for double-track upgrade work.
“Ticket sales are open for six months to allow the public to plan ahead, especially for those celebrating Hari Roy Adiladha, school holidays or holidays. The country’s borders are now open and we expect the number of tourists to increase by the end of the year. Customers are being encouraged to buy tickets early to enjoy a cheaper fare and preferred seats, ”said KTM CEO Mohammad Rani Hisham Samsuddin.
There are some ongoing promotions to take advantage of. The Syoknya Naik Keretapi 2.0 campaign, which launched on May 17, offers a RM15 discount with the CUTIKERETAPI2 promo code for travel until November 30 this year. For group travel, the Keluarga Malaysia package offers a 25% discount for groups of four or more in a single transaction – use the promotional code KMKTMB22.
Tickets can be purchased at the KTM Mobile App (KITS) or at www.ktmb.com.my.
