Lexus Malaysia has launched the second and latest generation model of NX SUV for the local market. Two variants are offered, namely NX 250 Luxury with 2.5L engine and NX 350 F Sport a 2.4L turbocharged engine. It is a CBU import unit, sold at RM370,888 and RM389,888, respectively.
For the Lexus NX 350 F Sport, it is equipped with a 2.4L turbo engine with 275 hp and 430 Nm of power from 1,700 to 3,600 rpm. This T24A-FTS unit combines 8AT as well as full-time AWD electronic control and records 0-100 km / h in 7 seconds, and the same maximum speed 200 km / h.
The 2.4T engine has high compression ratio and heat efficiency, combined with enhanced high-efficiency valve and cylinder angles accelerates combustion, contributes to high power production and environmentally friendly performance.
The turbo engine also features Lexus’ first concentrated oil injection, where gasoline is injected by a multi-hole injector at high pressure in the center of the combustion chamber, making combustion optimal and complete. The turbocharger unit is now high-efficiency with its own cooling system, which uses an electric pump as well as a liquid-cooled intercooler.
The F Sport package includes AVS and performance shock absorbers on the front and back for a more sporty character. Both the 250 and 350 variants use 20-inch alloy rims with 235/50 tires, but with a dark gray finish for the Luxury and a bright black finish for the F Sport. Other differences from the F Sport include its grille design, 18mm lower front bumper corner, black grille frame, black side mirror housing, black roof rail and side F Sport badge.
The interior space shows more significant changes than the old model. Among them, the problematic remote touch controller is no longer used. The cockpit applies the Tazuna concept displayed on the LF-30 electrified model on display during the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show – a concept that “connects the driver to the car to make it more focused on driving”. It uses a 14-inch screen that is six inches larger than the old one.
There are several physical control knobs around the big screen. For example, the engine start button and the driving mode are placed in a selective position so that drivers can easily reach them without changing their driving position. According to Lexus, the number of physical switches has been reduced from 78 to 45, only for the most frequently used functions.
The new screen also comes with a new system. The menu appears as an icon next to the driver, and the screen layout is divided into areas that follow the description of the relevant information. Phone connection via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay; The second is a wireless connection, the first for Lexus.
In terms of security, the NX is complete and reliable. It comes with Lexus Safety System +, which includes pre-collision system (PCS), dynamic radar cruise control with stop and go function (DRCC), lane keeping system (with lane tracing assist and lane exit warning) and adaptive high-. Beam system (AHS). The reversing camera has a panoramic view and seven airbags for the driver’s knee.
