Who else saw this over the weekend? I did, but was unsure about it and couldn’t switch lanes fast enough to use it anyway. We’re talking about KL’s Jalan Tun Razak flyover that goes to the Kampung Pandan Roundabout, and yes, it’s finally open.
The 2.8 km elevated three-lane road starts in front of the Royal Selangor Golf Club and leads to the Kampung Pandan Roundabout. It also provides a direct connection to the MEX highway and you can see it from the green “KLIA” sign at E20. Launched on Saturday, it is so new that it is not yet on Waze 7
Those who frequently extend this know that it is a nightmare even in crowded times, from the US Embassy to the TRX construction area before the Underpass and Kampung Pandan Roundabout. Now, there is an escape route.
According to Federal Territory Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Qasim, the flyover is also meant to give access to motorcycles coming out of Jalan Bukit Bintang. He added that there are plans to connect the flyover with the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway currently under construction.
This RM492.5mil project was launched in July 2017 and was to be completed two years later. After several delays, including the Covid-19 movement control order, it is finally ready almost five years after launch. Better late than never.
