2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Trim Levels, Features and Powertrain Breakdown

Order books for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Pickup Truck may be closed, but if you want to find one of the many or buy a secondhand one, you may want to ask if you can find different features. Lightning comes in four trim levels and with two available powertrain options. We break it all down here.

First, let’s start with those powertrains. There are two options to choose from, but whichever you choose, you’ll get two electric motors – one front and one rear – providing all-wheel drive. The standard range version has a 98-kilowatt-hour battery for a 230-mile driving range on charge. This powertrain delivers 452 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. Ford claims it will sprint 0-60 in 5 seconds.

Fleet version of 131-kWh Extended Range Battery Pro Trim, consumer versions of XLT and Lariat and range-topping are optional in Platinum standard. It offers 320 miles on Pro, XLT and Loria and 300 miles on Platinum. Choosing this battery increases the output from the electric motor to 580 hp, maintaining the same 775 pound-feet of torque. It compresses the time range from 0-60 to the mid-range of 4-seconds. Extended range models also come with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro (otherwise it costs $ 1,310).

Ford offers F-150 Lightning in four trims: Pro, XLT, Lariat and Platinum. All trim levels have some common features. The only lightning configuration is a super crew cab and 5.5-foot bed. Each truck has at least eight 120-volt outlets. They all have a 12-inch digital instrument panel in front of the driver. The standard Ford Co-Pilot 360 includes auto high beam, blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Trims divides into four selectable drive modes: Normal, Sport, Tow / Howl and Off-Road. They all have the 4×4 powertrain mentioned above and an electronic locking rear differential borrowed from the internal combustion F-150. The e-locker is automatically activated in off-road mode, but the mode selection menu can be enabled / disabled independently via a toggle lower on the screen. They also get a 20-foot mobile charging cable capable of both Level 1 (120 volts) And Level 2 (240 volts, 30 amps using NEMA 14-50 plugs).
