Launched internationally in March 2021, the 2022 Aprilia RSV4 1100 factory is now in Malaysia, valued at RM169,900. This is an increase of RM10,000 over the 2020 value of RM159,900 and does not include insurance, road tax and registration.
New to the RSV4 1100 factory for 2022 is an improved aerodynamic package and slightly more torque, as well as adjustable engine braking. A new Magneti Marelli 11MP ECU now offers three cornering ABS modes and new engine maps and ride modes to provide a fine-tuned riding experience.
The riding aid suite has six riding modes – three roads and three tracks. Road modes include Street for everyday riding, when things are a bit hectic for sport and full customization while the user has three track modes of Race, Track 1 and Track 2, with track modes allowing the ride to instantly apply two specific settings. Improved aerodynamic performance increases airbox pressure by 7%, while rider protection from wind increases by 11%. Fairing winglets developed using computational fluid dynamics, the winglets are assembled into double-wall fairings.
The RSV4 1100 factory uses Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension in the suspension with an electronic steering damper that has two modes – semi-active and manual – and three suspension maps. Of the three suspension maps, A1 mode is dedicated to slick tire and rastrack use, while A3 is for road riding and A2 is an in-between mode.
Brembo stylema calipers are used on the front, with a single-piston Brembo caliper on the back. Braking control is done with Bosch 9.1 MP ABS, including cornering ABS, also provides wheel and launch control.
The power of the RSV4 1100 comes from a 65-degree V-4, displacing 1,099 cc, higher than the previous model 1,078 cc, and it is Euro 5 loyal. The RSV4 1100 now produces the claimed 217 hp at 13,000 rpm – the same as before – but torque goes from 122 Nm at 11,000 rpm to 125 Nm at 10,500 rpm.
